Historic Beauty at the Foot of the Tetons

Along Mormon Row in Grand Teton National Park, the John Moulton Barn stands as a weathered reminder of the families who built their lives beneath these extraordinary mountains.

While its neighbor, the TA Moulton Barn, often receives more attention, I've always appreciated the quieter character of the John Moulton Barn and its surrounding ranch structures.

I photographed the barn shortly after sunrise, when golden morning light touched the old wooden walls and the mountain peaks beyond. The crisp air, peaceful landscape, and sense of history made it feel as though time had slowed down.

John Moulton Barn brings together the rustic textures of Wyoming's ranching heritage and the dramatic natural beauty of the Tetons. Its expansive composition adds warmth, character, and a meaningful sense of place to contemporary and Western-inspired interiors.

One especially memorable connection came when Jerry Moulton, grandson of TA Moulton and the last Moulton born on Mormon Row, reached out to share family history. His stories gave me an even deeper appreciation for the people behind these historic structures.
