How to Choose the Right Art Finish: Acrylic, Metal, Canvas & Acrylic Blocks

How to Choose the Right Material & Finish for Your Space

Choosing the right art finish can completely change how a piece looks and feels in a room. This guide compares the materials I offer—TruLife® Acrylic, ChromaLuxe® Metal, DiBond Brushed Metal, Canvas, and Acrylic Blocks—so you can decide which finish fits your space, your lighting, and the kind of presentation you want.

All large-format pieces and acrylic blocks are created as museum-quality fine art prints using premium materials selected for visual impact, durability, and long-term performance. Over the years, I’ve tested and refined the finishes I offer to make sure each one meets a high standard for craftsmanship, longevity, and beauty.

Not sure which finish is right for your room? If you’re deciding between acrylic, metal, canvas, or brushed metal, request a Design Preview and I’ll help you choose what fits your space best.

  • Choose TruLife® Acrylic if you want the most polished, gallery-quality look with depth, clarity, and reduced glare.
  • Choose ChromaLuxe® Metal if you want bold color, crisp detail, and a sleek modern finish.
  • Choose DiBond Brushed Metal if you want texture, a more industrial or artistic feel, and a unique metallic shimmer.
  • Choose Canvas if you want a softer, more traditional presentation with a relaxed gallery feel.
  • Choose Acrylic Blocks if you want shelf-ready art for desks, mantels, bookcases, or giftable display.

Acrylic Block

Face-mounted to 1" thick polished acrylic, acrylic blocks offer a luminous, sculptural look in a freestanding format. They are designed for shelves, mantels, desks, and smaller styling moments rather than wall hanging.

Still Not Sure?

The right finish depends on the artwork, the room, the lighting, and the kind of statement you want it to make. If you want the most polished gallery feel, acrylic is often the answer. If you want bold color and a cleaner modern edge, metal may be the better fit. If you want softness and warmth, canvas can be beautiful. And if you want art for a shelf or giftable display, acrylic blocks are a strong option.
