Step into a room that feels like a little tropical escape—fresh greens, soft light, and one piece of artwork that instantly changes how the room feels. It’s St. Lucia sunshine bottled up: curved leaf lines, vibrant green, and that tiny thread of warm orange in the veins that makes everything come alive.

Think of a color palette as your cheat sheet—a few harmonizing hues that guide paint, textiles, and finishes so the room feels collected (not matchy-matchy, just intentional). For this piece: lush greens + soft greige/neutrals + tiny hits of warm citrus.

I photographed this at the Botanical Gardens in St. Lucia—one of those “stop and stare” moments. The curved geometry of the leaves, the layers of green, and that warm orange vein… it’s modern, organic, and instantly uplifting. One of the things I love most about this image is that people often don't realize they're looking at a banana leaf at first. They're drawn in by the sweeping curves, rich greens, and the unexpected ribbon of orange running through the center. Only then do they discover it's nature. That's exactly why it works so well in contemporary spaces—it feels artistic before it feels botanical.

How I’d style it

• Walls: Warm white, soft greige, or a whisper of sage. If you love contrast, try a powder-blue accent wall (surprisingly gorgeous with green).
• Textures: Mix linen drapery, a woven jute or sisal rug, and one smooth element (lacquer tray, ceramic lamp) for balance.
