Selective Color Daisy Mood Board

Just a POP of yellow can transition an entire room - into a breathtaking display of beauty!   The thought of simple is better applies to this mood board.  The simple color - white - brings such a clean feel to a room.    The crispness of the pop of yellow color draws your eye .... as well as your curiosity as to how you keep everything so clean and white!

If I'm being honest with myself, white is not practical for me.  But I don't care - because I love it! ....and I have two of them!!   I tempt fate every time I walk into that room!   I'm messy.   My kids are messy.  I just have to look at a drink and it jumps out of my hand and onto the carpet or couch.     Scotchgard is your new best friend!

 

 

The piece of ART selected for this mood board is one that speaks to me about simplicity and nature.    This wild daisy found in a field in Bentonville, Arkansas, was standing proud and ready to be photographed.     

Wild daisies (ox-eye daisies) are also known as Chrysanthemum lencanthemum, and are perennial flowers.    Such a long name for such a simple flower.

This piece has inspired me and I love the simple elegance that the pop of yellow brings to this room.   

As a photographer, I feel the focal point should be ART.   Furniture is just a tool that you sit on in order to enjoy the ART more comfortably.   I realize not everyone agrees with that ... but I love ART - so it's my focal point.      

 

 

 

 

 

When you invest in ART, you want to showcase that art - and make sure it’s appreciated by others as much as you appreciate it!   As a fine art photographer, I have seen clients struggle with where to place pieces of art.  Clients love the piece of art, but they just aren’t sure how to incorporate it with their furniture, or how it could fit in a room or what decor could coordinate.  So I’ve created a possible grouping of furniture items to pair along with some of my art.   Allowing the visualization of art and furniture together to make a statement in your home or office.

Decide which piece(s) of art will be the focal point or inspiration point for the room/building.  

 

Monocolor Daisy - Featured art.   This art is available in either TruLife Acrylic or High Gloss Chromaluxe Metal.   The TruLife Acrylic is non-reflective/non-glare, it appears as though you’re looking through a window at the picture, and is a little more modern and contemporary. The Chromaluxe Metal is a glossier, does reflect light but is cheaper.   You can’t go wrong with either one - it just depends on what your preference, style and budget can afford.

 Custom sizing is available!   So don’t let that limit your creativity!

 A little bit about this art: This picture was taken in Bentonville, Arkansas on a farm - miles away from the nearest city.   The simple beauty of this flower gives new meaning to the words fresh as a daisy.

Build a theme  

The theme …. Pop of Color & Simple!! 

I felt like that needed to be emphasized - because we sometimes work so hard to find just the right things - that we forget.... simple is the best.   I don’t like to walk into a sterile stiff room where you’re afraid to sit down because you may make a crease on the couch or pillow.  I like to walk into a comfy cozy room.   An inviting room with a pop of color - to add interest.  I’ve always compared it by saying house or home.   A home is a house that’s lived in.   It may not be perfect, the rug may be wrinkled and the pillows not perfectly set, but everyone is welcome.

 

Create a Mood Board

Visualize the items together.   I do this by creating a mood board.   Whether I pick these exact items or not - this gives me a starting place for options for the room, for the art, and my style.

1. Tweak it until you’re happy with it.  
   Not everyone’s style is the same - so incorporate YOU into it.   That will ensure that you love it!

Below are the items that I selected to go with this art / moodboard.   The resources are below, or feel free to be creative for your style.   Either way - find something that you will LOVE!   Afterall, it is your space!    

For me, I start with ART as my inspiration!    The new year gets me into a clean the clutter mode, and I was looking for something that matched criteria of:  clean, simple, yet colorful.   The Monocolor Daisy matched my criteria!!   This fine art is very calming, simple and just the right amount of color!  It is paired with whites and grays ... and more yellow.  

I am currently sitting here imagining this mood board in... a bedroom, a reading area off the master bedroom, a sunroom, or even the main living room.    So many options for this lovely combination.

No cozy room is complete without a comfy couch.   I love how this couch continues to bring out the theme of simple and clean - yet with a bit of fun with the pop of black and yellow - to coordinate it all together!!   The Cameron II 101 inch Sofa and a beautiful yellow chair do just the trick!    (I don't know if you're like me, but selecting couches is about the most difficult thing for me to do!   I'm picky!   I don't want it to feel like I'm sitting on a board - I want it to sink in around me like memory foam.    All that to say - make sure you pick a couch that works for YOU.   Next to the ART and theme, somewhere comfortable to sit is probably the most important thing you'll select.)

A lovely area rug.... Yellow and Gray Area Rug.    This rug needs to make a statement as well as coordinate.    If you saw my Napa Sidewalk blog, you'll notice that both this rug and rock wall/fireplace are in it as well.   That shows the versatility of both boards - along with how much I really like these!    Normally, I'm not a lot of yellow type of person .... but I'm really feeling the love of yellow on this!!

The paint base color of the room is Sherwin Williams DOVETAIL Gray.  SW7018

Next .... you must have an accent table to hold your books, a reading lamp, a cup of tea (or coffee), and maybe even a picture.  Something that brings comfort and peace to you.    I selected a Tempered Clear Glass Gold Accent Table.   A lovely little table offering interest yet not drawing you away from the other beautiful pieces in the room.   Topped with a fun yellow Fiesta Ware mug.

Now, before you panic with the rock wall, I must admit.... I'm all about fireplaces in the room!   If you don't have one in this room, build one!  Just kidding.... kind-of.    While a fireplace may not work for everyone, you could do an accent wall or area in this stone.   I feel the texture of the rock adds more interest to the room.   accent wall   Depending on your budget - you may want to go with the real thing - which would also look ah-mazing!!   If not, this is a great alternative to real rock.

Since I'm naturally a nature person, there must be a plant somewhere in this room!  Brussel's Bonsai  for the win.   Simple. Beautiful. Nature.

Last but not definitely not least - lighting.   This AMAZING hand blown glass chandelier!!!   I'm drooling over it!!!   I am a huge fan of Chihuly and his creativity with all the glass pieces - and this chandelier is made in the style of his work.   Hand Blown Murano Glass Chandelier.    Lighting can make such a difference to a room - ESPECIALLY this piece!!!    (Did I mention I'm drooling over it?   I now need to clear out one of my rooms to find a place for one!!).   If you want a custom designed chandelier, I found an artist in Clinton, Arkansas who also makes these @redfernglass.

 

Voila!   You suddenly have a beautiful, simple, elegant, clean room with just a pop of yellow!!    

All that's needed is a cup of tea and a good book.... and I'll settle in.   This room is calling me!!
